Megan Kiltz: I grew up with dogs and have always had an interest in taking care of them. When I got out of high school, I worked for a dog kennel for four years. They did some grooming there, but I wanted to learn it more extensively and how to do it at a higher level. I left the kennel and attended the Academy of Dog Grooming arts in Chicago in 2007 for 5 months. After graduating, I started working as a groomer at Petsmart. I worked for five years and then became an academy instructor -teaching Petsmart bathers how to groom. That same year I became a salon manager, and have been managing, teaching, and grooming for the last four years.
I have over 10 years of grooming experience and am very confident in my abilities. Whenever a customer comes in, I strive to meet their needs, while making sure to meet the needs of their pets as well. I revel in a great finished product, but I also love the opportunity to build lasting relationships with my customers and their pets.
Wyatt Boska: I worked as a bather for a year at Petsmart before being taught how to groom by Megan. After completing my training I groomed for a year. I left Petsmart to experience working in a private shop, but after working in a few, I realized I would be happiest if I opened my own.
My philosophy towards working with dogs is to evaluate each dog individually, and change my pace and handling accordingly. I reward good behavior with pets and sweet talk, but say nothing and calmly continue during poor behavior. The quality of your pets' appearance and health of their skin and coat takes priority to me over speed.
Samantha Favreau: Dogs are my passion! When I was little, I checked out every library book on dogs so I could learn as much as possible. Knowing I wanted to work with dogs, I started bathing them at Petsmart when I was 16. After two years, Megan taught me how to groom. From there, I groomed with her for four years, and then managed the salon for two after she left. When I knew it was time for a change, I reached out to Megan and have been working at Wag Town ever since. Some of my greatest strengths are my patience, my always friendly and cheerful demeanor, and my ability to make every dog look cute. Seeing the smile on a happy parent's face makes my day!
Us: We have all attended Hershey Groom Expo and Intergroom several times, where we watched-and will continue to see- many seminars which always either teach us something new or refresh techniques or ideas we already knew.
